I recently had the opportunity to try out Axon Optics migraine glasses. I live with daily headaches and frequent migraines. Evaluating the glasses was a perfect fit for me. Living through one day headache free, sounds like a fairy tale to me. (Hey, that rhymes.) According to the Lupus Foundation, “people with lupus may be twice as likely to experience migraine-like lupus headaches, commonly known as lupus headaches.”
I had the choice of a few different styles of glasses and I settled on the Axon Optics AIREPLEX, Stylin’ Light frames.
- “Certain wave lengths of light can trigger pain and migraine attacks
- Axon lenses are clinically shown to block the light that has been implicated in triggering migraines
- Affords general light sensitivity relief and migraine relief”
These glasses are for indoor use. The lenses are tinted a light shade of rose. Now I can say that I have literally viewed my world through rose-colored glasses. This eye wear provides UVA and UVB blocking. Take that future crows feet!
I thought my head was somewhat smallish because I’m a petite lady. However, the glasses felt a tiny bit tight. The online product description explains that the glasses provide a “snug fit on most everyone”. I guess I have a bigger head than I thought – bummer.
The arms of the Axon Optics migraine glasses have a hinge joint that will flex slightly outwards, beyond the normal open position. Where the earpieces of the glasses contact the sides of my head is where I felt a subtle pressure. The slight tension on my head was gentle, but enough to be bothersome after wearing them for a long amount of time. My body is hypersensitive when I have a headache or migraine. The nose piece of the glasses are comfortable. The lenses provide plenty of light coverage. I did get one complement on how cute the glasses were on me. I’ll take it!
The manufacturers can make custom lenses with your vision prescription. If you need prescription glasses on a regular basis, I highly recommend getting the Axon Optics Airplex with custom lenses. I’m currently switching between my prescription glasses and the Axon Optics ones. My eyes are so confused. After trying the Axon Optics eye wear, I plan to get custom lenses.
My headache frequency and intensity definitely reduced a bit while using these glasses. I distinctly recall one day when a headache was brewing, which then prompted me to put on my Axon Optics glasses, and my headache symptoms went away. A coincidence? I honestly don’t think so. I’m convinced that this particular headache retreated because of these glasses.
I truly wish I had these glasses when I was working. My career demanded that I spend the majority of my time on a computer or reading small print. Basking in the putrid glow of fluorescent lighting, coupled with staring at a computer screen all day, often triggered and/or intensified my headaches and migraines. When I was working and a headache manifested, I would bravely wear a sun visor indoors. Maybe brave is too strong of a word; I’ll say I wore my visor with self-confidence. Sure I looked like a stereotypical 19th century accountant donning a green eye-shade, but I wasn’t concerned. Who cares what you look like when you’re in pain, right? If I had the Axon Optics migraine glasses back then, I definitely would have worn them every day. Who knows, I might have suffered far less headaches and migraines. Would I recommend the Axon Optics migraine glasses? You betcha!
I am a bit miffed at my neurologist (who I see primarily for the treatment of my headaches and migraines). He’s slacking big time. In the seven years that I have been under his care, he has never mentioned glasses of this sort. These glasses would have helped tremendously. Well, my doctor better put on his big boy tighty whities because we have something to discuss during my next appointment with him.
